Hearing

Hearing is essential for communicating in our fast-paced and sometimes noisy world. Hearing in the art of conversation aid in the betterment of every individual’s quality of life. Being able to hear your favourite piece of music, your favourite bird song or your grandchild speak is a luxury we can sometimes take for granted when we can hear. H&H Optical and Hearing Centre has qualified, experienced, and friendly staff to thoroughly assess your hearing, to determine the best course of action; be it hearing instruments, listening strategies, or perhaps medical attention.

“Hauck Hearing Centre provides a caring, professional environment to explore treatment options for your hearing loss and our ‘Patient first’ approach allows you to proceed at a comfortable pace. All hearing aids are smaller, more powerful and sophisticated than ever. We are confident that when you are ready, we will be able to help you hear better.

Hearing loss is the fastest growing, and one of the most prevalent, chronic conditions facing Canadians today. While hearing loss has many causes, age-related (presbycusis) and noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) are the two most common types. Regular hearing evaluations are recommended.

Based in Drumheller, H&H Optical and Hearing Centre is committed to excellence in providing state-of-the-art hearing instruments and quality, courteous service to individuals suffering from hearing loss.”

The 4 Basic Types of Hearing Instruments

I would change this to say the 5 types of hearing aids and omit the word basic.

The 5th type of hearing aid not mentioned is receiver in the canal. This is what I would say about receiver in the canal hearing aids:

“The receiver-in-canal (RIC) style is a hearing aid that sits behind your ear and feeds sound through a wire inside of a thin, clear tube that connects to a receiver (speaker) your ear canal. RIC hearing aids are discreet with the largest part (containing the battery) tucked discreetly behind your ear. Even though RIC’s are smaller than BTE’s, the RIC hearing aid has ample room for a variety of features and is relatively easy to adjust, remove, and insert manually. RIC hearing aids are also available in a rechargeable format.”

There are multiple instances on the site where the word “bin-aurally” is used. There isn’t supposed to be a hyphen. Since “binaurally” isn’t a commonly used word, I suggest switching the phrasing to “in both ears”.

Wearing Two Hearing Aids

“About 90% of people with hearing loss can be helped by wearing hearing aids. The most important support you can provide to someone with an untreated hearing loss is to offer positive encouragement to speak to a hearing healthcare professional.”

The link for “Continuing Competency” is chapacms.ca, not .com.
ALL the different links under the “Working With Hearing Loss” section of the “Useful Hearing Links”, take you to the Canadian hard of hearing Association website, but say “Page Not Found”.
